The accommodation is located in the historic fishing town of Banff, on the Moray Firth coast.

Situated in the large walled garden of the main house, converted from the original servants quarters at the rear of a traditional Victorian town house, offering peaceful quality accommodation within easy walking distance of the town centre and harbour.

The cottage has a vestibule, kitchen/diner and lounge on the ground floor.

The upper floor has a shower room and a double bedroom with walk-in dressing room.

All windows overlook the gardens of the main house.

Banff is ideally situated for golfers with several 18-hole golf courses within close proximity.

Boat trips are available for dolphin spotting or sea fishing from Macduff Harbour.

Quality salmon and trout fishing are available locally with ghillies if required.

There are numerous coastal walks, many suitable for cyclists.

The world famous Malt Whisky, Castle and Fishing Heritage Trails are all easily accessible.

Within easy reach are the marine aquarium at Macduff, Duff House, the Buckie Drifter Museum, the Scottish Tartan museum in Keith where there are kilt making courses, Baxter's of Speyside, the Ice House at Tugnet and Spey Bay which is a nature reserve and the starting point for the Speyside Way.

Locally caught seafood is easily available from local fish sellers all year round at very reasonable prices.

Activities in the area include skiing (winter season-Lecht approximately 1 hour's drive), pony trekking, mountain biking, hill walking, fishing, surfing, sea angling and bird watching.

A short walk from the cottage is the golden sandy beach at Banff Links.

Aberdeen is 45 miles and Inverness is 75 miles from Banff, which is on a main bus route.

There are indoor swimming pools at Banff, Turiff and a leisure centre at Elgin that also has a skating rink.

There is a new 10-pin bowling alley at Macduff approximately 2 miles from the cottage.

Local information leaflets are provided for guests together with maps of the local area.  Advice and information on activities are always available; fishing and golf outings can be booked in advance.

The dwelling is a converted traditional fisherman's cottage situated in the picturesque Seatown of Cullen, located virtually a "stones throw" from the seafront, beach and close to the golf course.

A former fishing village, Cullen and in particular Seatown, has retained much of its old charm and has a number of shops and hotels.

The harbour, formally used by the herring fishing fleet which operated from the many small fishing villages of the Moray Firth, is now largely used by pleasure craft.

Cullen lies directly on the 'Coastal Route'.  Following this route allows many of the fishing villages who's harbours invite exploration, to be visited.

The Moray Firth is also home to the bottle nosed dolphins which can often be seen leaping and frolicking quite close to the shore.

This area, as well as being the grain basket of Scotland, and home to the famed Aberdeen Angus Cattle, has many of the finest whisky distilleries in Scotland, most of which are open to the public.

A great many visitors also enjoy the route known as 'The Whisky Trail'.  Following this route allows many of the distilleries of the world's most famous whisky brands to be visited.

The close proximity of the property to the clean, safe, sandy beach make this an ideal location for a family holiday.

Coastal walks are enjoyed by many, who return year after year, to holiday in the temperate climate of this charming Moray Firth village.

The capital city of the northeast of Scotland, Aberdeen, is 60 miles from Cullen and has a very fine shopping centre as well as a great many buildings of fine architecture.

Well worthy of a visit is the Aberdeen Art Gallery and Aberdeen Maritime Museum.

Within a radius of 50 miles of Cullen are no fewer than 37 historic sites including many fine castles that are open to the public.

Royal Deeside and Balmoral Castle, long the favourite holiday home of the Royal Family, is 60 miles from Cullen.  Nearby is Braemar, home to the famous Braemar Gathering and Braemar Castle.

'Tigh na Cala'

Situated just yards away from the picturesque harbour 'Tigh na Cala', (Gallic for Harbour House) was built in 1900 and located in the old part of Portknockie on the Moray Firth coast.

This spacious property has been completely renovated and refurbished during 2003/2004 to a high standard and can comfortably accommodate 7 people.

On a clear day there are views across towards the Caithness coast, and during the summer evenings you can watch the sunsets disappearing over the sea.  You may also catch a glimpse of the bottled-nosed dolphins as they pass by.

The house has full central heating throughout.

On the ground floor, there is a well-equipped dining kitchen, with traditional cast iron fireplace, leading to utility room and separate shower room complete with toilet and wash hand basin.

A comfortable living room with traditional fireplace with coal and flame effect electric fire.

There is a TV complete with DVD and Video, also separate radio and CD player.

There is a spacious downstairs bedroom with double bed.

Leading upstairs, there is a large family bathroom with shower over bath.

A bedroom with a single bed.  One good-sized twin bedroom with a sea view, and also a large double bedroom with king-size bed and traditional fireplace.

Other features include a safe walled garden suitable for young children and dogs, an off road parking space and the use of the garage.

Portknockie has a post office and grocers, newsagent and general store, chemist, chip shop, ladies hairdresser, hotel and inn.

There is a small harbour with a slipway at Portknockie as well as a children's paddling pool.

Portknockie is ideally situated for golfers with several 18-hole golf courses within close proximity.

There are numerous coastal walks, many suitable for cyclists, including the millennium cycle route, which passes through the village using the old railway line.  This part of the route goes over impressive viaducts at Cullen.

The world famous Malt Whisky, Castle and Fishing Heritage Trails are all easily accessible.

Within easy reach are the marine aquarium at MacDuff, Duff House in Banff, the Buckie Drifter Museum, the Scottish Tartan museum in Keith where there are kilt-making courses and Baxter's of Speyside.

Other popular activities in the area include pony trekking, mountain biking, fishing, sea angling and bird watching.

Dolphin spotting cruises are available at nearby Findochty and other harbours along the Moray Firth coast.

The clean sandy beaches of Cullen are a short walk from the cottage.

Aberdeen and Inverness are approximately 60 miles from Portknockie, which is on a main bus route.

There is a sheltered patio area to the rear and a gated grassed area to the front.
